Reykjavik & Beyond
6 Day Trip


Day 1
Arrival at Keflavik Airport.  Rendezvous with group in the city of Reykjavik.   From the city we drive the gravel back roads of the Reykjanes Peninsula,  which is often described as a  “lunar landscape”. A photo opportunity at the hot springs at Seltún near Krýsuvík. Lunch at Rauða húsið at Eyrarbakki.  After lunch we stop at the black sand beach before continuing along the south shore to Seljalandsfoss waterfall in the afternoon Continue to Skogar where we will stay tonight.  In the evening we head out to Dyrholaey to shoot the puffins.  1 night at Hotel Edda in Skogar.

Day 2
Fjallabak to Landmannalauger
An early morning shoot at Skogafoss which is a very short distance from the Hotel. After breakfast we continue east along the south shore to Myrdalssandur (sandy desert with lava) before heading inland for a full day off road through the mountain region of Fjallabak.
The landscape changes on every turn and so does the light. At Landmannalaugar go for a short hike to capture the magnificent landscape. It is said that every nature photographer goes through a “Landmannalaugar-phase”  because of the amazing colors in the mountains.

Day 3
Hekla Volcano and Domadalur ValleyFull day off road on the numerous mountain tracks between Hekla and Landmannalaugar. Incredible variety in Landscape; new black lava fields, older
lava fields covered with moss, green valleys surrounded by mountains, craters,
mountain lakes, crater lakes and waterfalls. A picnic lunch, we aim to keep the driving to a minimum and maximize the photographic opportunity.

Day 4
Haifoss, Geysir and Gulfoss Waterfalls
Morning shoot at Háifoss which is Iceland´s second highest waterfall at122m  and it’s  ‘neighbouring waterfall’  Granni.

Make the short journey towards Gulfoss and Geysir, stopping en-route for photos. Late afternoon shoot of Gulfoss and Geysir.
1 night at Hotel Edda at Laugarvatn H/B

Day 5
Golden Circle to Reykjavik
The Golden Circle is almost a mandatory thing for first time visitors to Iceland. From Gullfoss and Geysir to Thingvellir where Althingi, the Icelandic parliament was founded in 930 AD and you see the tectonical plate boundaries where the North American and the Eurasian plates meet. We take an alternative route along Iceland´s second largest lake, Thingvallavatn to Nesjavellir at Hengill volcano. A large geothermal area with hot springs and steamvents, both natural and man-made.   Arrival back into the city of Reykjavik by mid afternoon 1 night at Vik Hotel H/B

Day 6
Departure from Keflavik Airport
Transfer from airport to Hotel for flight departures.
